Why Is Professional Counselling Included In Our Wedding Insurance Policies?

Our customers ask this question all the time.

Regarding wedding insurance, most customers think of lost rings or missing wedding gifts, which would be right.

This is especially true when it comes to supplier failure, a situation that occurs all too often. The supplier goes under, taking both your deposit and their services.

Something that happens all too often we are afraid to report.

However, underneath more apparent areas of cover, there is the stress and anxiety that can come from something likely far more impactful: the need to cancel or postpone your wedding.

Wedding planning can not only be stressful, though you are building up to your dream day.

A day you might have had in your mind for years.

A perfect vision for an ideal day and night with friends and family.

Sure, a damaged wedding dress on the dance floor late at night might not concern you too much – you were having fun anyway.

But if you had to cancel your wedding?

Or postpone due to COVID or an unforeseen event?

That could hit hard.

And that is why we cover our customers for professional counselling regarding wedding cancellations or postponements.

What is professional counselling?

Professional counselling is needing to see a professional to talk through the emotional distress you might well have from the need to cancel or postpone your wedding.

Professionals trained in talking through your situation and feelings to help you resolve them and recover your mental state.

Please note that per our PDS – a document we strongly encourage you to read – we do not cover psychologist or psychiatrist services.

How much cover is offered for professional counselling?

We offer to cover up to $10,000 for professional counselling.

Consult our PDS and review your policy to understand the cover offered, as it varies on a policy-by-policy basis.

Please note that we do not cover professional counselling 180 days or more from the wedding date.

Is it common to require professional counselling after the cancellation or postponement of a wedding?

We are not going to sugarcoat this.

The need to cancel or postpone a wedding can be crushing.

You didn’t go into this to cancel.

To see your dreams – and all your hard work – delayed.

Or even out the window entirely.

Though it does happen, the need for some of our customers to talk to someone is not uncommon.

It should never be seen as a failure or something to be embarrassed about.

Talking is good and often an essential step in working through the emotional distress you might have from needing to cancel or postpone your wedding.

What is involved in claiming professional counselling?

If you are feeling distressed about your situation, there are several ways to seek professional counselling.

Call our customer support team about your situation and requirements, and they will be able to discuss them with you.

Please keep any relevant documentation with your doctor and/or professional counsellor. Remember that we do not cover psychologist or psychiatrist services.

You must notify us as soon as possible (no more than 30 days) of the cancellation or postponement so that we can assist with your claim.

If you’re in this situation, we will do our best to help within the policy guidelines outlined in our PDS.

Protect your wedding day in 2 mins.
